Does anyone have any info on this Kennel? I have been looking at some of there dogs online (very limited web page since I don't read Italian ) I thought someone in the states was breeding to this line, but for the life of me I can't remember where I read that at. I would appreciate any names of Males used as well as your opinion on the litter(s) etc. Thanks in advance

Several years ago I was researching various drahthaar kennels in Germany and came across the web site for VDD-Italy and di Costa Rubea Kennel. At that time I was searching for DK motherlines that were not already present in the U.S. The owner of di Costa Rubea Kennel is Giovanni Monga and there are two individuals who work for him, Claudio Cerutti and Fabrizio Crabbio. These two individuals are instrumental in training and testing his drahthaars. I contacted Claudio and started corresponding with him. I believe we exchanged email for close to a year before I asked if Giovanni would permit me to import a drahthaar from his kennel. I wanted to take time to establish a rapport with Claudio and Giovanni so that they knew I was a dedicated VDD member and breeder. Giovanni was very happy that someone from the U.S. was interested in importing one of his drahthaars.
Once a breeding was decided upon Giovanni agreed to send over two females to increase the odds that at least one of them would make the program. As it sometimes happens there were only two females in the “I” litter di Costa Rubea and one of the females developed a bad bite. I imported Inga di Costa Rubea in 2002. I was so pleased with Inga that I decided to import a second di Costa Rubea female and in 2003 I imported Maja (call name Maya) di Costa Rubea. The “M” litter di Costa Rubea is a repeat breeding of the “I” litter, so in effect Inga and Maya are full sisters from different litters. Both are out of Burgl vom Taubmoos and Odin di Costa Rubea. Inga’s first litter was a breeding with Ares vom Ike (who is out of Trina vom Wildflugel and Yanos vom Wildflugel). Her second litter was a breeding with Heiko vom Wildflugel (who is out of Laika vom Wildflugel and Xanios vom Wildflugel). I have been extremely pleased with the puppies from both of these litters. King is owned by a former GNA member in Illinois. This is going to be somewhat of a tight line-breeding on the “O” di Costa Rubea as Inga is out of Odin and King is out of Olf.
Maya’s first and second breedings were to Xandrino vom Wildflugel (who is out of Franka vom Wittlerbaum and Dux vom Steinweg). I had not planned on repeating the breeding with Xandrino; however, Maya came into heat around Easter and the airlines were not accepting any cargo for shipment and I was unable to get her to Boise, ID for breeding. Not wanting to miss a heat cycle and being so happy with the results of her first litter I decided to repeat the breeding. Maya’s next breeding will be with Blucher vom Mill Creek (who is out of Gala vom Wildflugel and Fox vom Weidebach).
To date my litters out of Inga and Maya have been very clean (knock on wood) as far as hereditary faults are concerned. I have been very pleased with the talent level of all four litters and I have been getting some very good reports from the owners. I know there have been other individuals in GNA that have either imported di Costa Rubea puppies or bred to di Costa Rubea males, but basically I laid the ground work for them by being the first to find and research this kennel.

Poorfarm- You are correct his name is Olf. Very nice dog from what others tell me. I have not had the chance to see him in person. I really like the things
This site sure is dead. I hope it takes off I try and log in daily at least to see wha thas changed.
