 Itching/Scratching
« Thread Started on Aug 14, 2008, 7:51am »

Just about every night when we are done running for the day, my DD lays down and starts scratching and licking himself. This lasts throughout the night (not straight through, but off and on). He also rubs his face in the carpet and scratches at his face immediately after eating, but during the day he doesn't seem to do all this. Any ideas? My thoughts are perhaps some sort of allergic reaction, but I feed Pro Plan Performance and it has served us well in the past. I've heard some people say that it could be the amount of corn in the food. He has a bit of a sensitive stomach to other foods (especially the more "holistic" foods, like Innova). It is annoying to me, and surely annoying to him.
Thanks,

Pro Plan is not the best food to feed any dog especially a Drahthaar anything with the Purina name is a compromise.
look at www.dogfoodanalysis.com it is an independent site that reviews and rates dog food.
I feed my dogs Orijen www.championpetfoods.com and raw meat and supplement it with Canine Complete www.thewholisticpet.com
Never had a problem with any itching everyone asks me what I feed my dogs their coats shine even in rainy weather.

Dogs are Carnivors raw meat eaters check your ingrediant list see how much meat is in Pro Plan. Do your dog a favor give him some raw ground beef and watch what happens to that meat it will be gone in a flash. He'will thank you.
