Columbia, CT 06237 is a town in Tolland County, in the Hartford metro area. 4.5 hour drive from Syracuse... 2.5 hours for me!

Walleye, I'm one of the guys that is hosting the training day at Millstream Preserve in CT. I hope you decide to make the trip, I will do every thing I can to make it worthwhile for you and your dog. By the way, are you training for HZP or VGP? By the way, I'll be driving down from coastal Maine, six hours. Bruce Tuck will be driving down from northern Vermont, a good four hours, just a fact of life in the north country. And thanks Marty for giving folks the heads up on the training day. Dennis Higgins

Dennis, Do you have any hotels picked out that take dogs in the area? Is this a one or two day event? Is there a possibility of trying overnight blood tracks? Let me know, Walleye lives 30 min from me and he can ride with me if he wants to. Flint

Flint, The last three or so times I've attended Millstream training days, Don, the owner has allowed me to stay overnight at the preserve lodge(very cheap). There is no running water,(water is in a barrel) gas lights and a chemical toilet but I'm always so wiped out from the days training, the drive the preceeding morning starting at 1:00am and a late dinner at Uncle D's Log Cabin Restaurant, a great rib joint, that I could sleep any where. But truthfully, the lodge is very comfortable and has a couple or three beds, bunkhouse style, also a couple of big sofas, if you have a sleeping bag. I will probably stay there, if Don will allow me. The other option is a B&B down the road a short distance called Oliva's Garden, if I recall correctly. I stayed there a couple of times in the first year that training was held at Millstream. It was very clean and comfortable and I was the only guest there both nights. It was very casual, the folks that own it weren't even around, I just left the key with a check when I left in the morning. Price was around $80.00, I think. That's about it for rooms, I think there is another motel in the area I remember calling, but they didn't even want to talk about non-smoking rooms so that did it for me. We will be just doing one day this time out. Are you entered in a VGP with an overnight track? We will be laying the tracks early in the morning so if you waited until late in the day, you could do a 12 hour track. I think that's the best we could do for you in this instance. Dennis Higgins

Dennis, Let me know if staying at the lodge is an option for June. As for the overnight blood track I was just asking if it was available. Flint Brann

Flint, I will speak to Don, the owner of Millstream a couple of weeks before the training day and let you know. As to an over night track, we could lay one Sat. night and do it Sun. morning before we left. Pretty simple, of course I didn't think of it when you first asked. In fact, if I've had a chance to do some tracking work with my dog before June, I could lay a 20 hour track for him. Take care, Dennis
